Monochrome Records is tucked away in a back garden somewhere in the beautiful Countryside of West Sussex. Long before our new studio was built we used to record in a tiny box room with vocals being recorded on the landing due to lack of space.
We even had a top 4 slot on the 7 digital download charts with " Anthem For Green England " A good old fashioned protest song written by David Francis ( New York ) Passed around the World for our Global Village friends to add their brilliant talents to the track, then bit by bit sent back to the U.K for mixing. This song inspired us to build a new studio and launch Monochrome Records. The song also helped us beat the U.K Government with their pathetic so called " ECO " construction juggernaut and saved over 910 acres of prime farming land. The new studio is currently being used to record David Francis's new album which will be released on Monochrome Records in late October 2010. David commissioned us to record his new album after being knocked over by the final production of " Anthem " David is already on his second visit this year to the Monochrome Studio's, flying all the way from New York just to get that unique " Shed Sound "

DAVID LISTENING TO PLAYBACK THE FIELDS THAT INSPIRED THE SONG " ANTHEM FOR GREEN ENGLAND " DAVID & JOHN TAKING A BREAK FROM RECORDING ANTHEM MY BELOVED WIFE MOLL IN THE NEW STUDIO DIGITAL KIT THAT PLAYS AND SOUNDS LIKE A REAL ACOUSTIC KIT PART OF THE NEW STUDIO MONITORS_RACKS_MIXERS

The new studio is an on going project, built in ten days, the base being constructed using over 4 tonnes of sand and cement to provide a stable platform on which the summerhouse / new studio would be erected.
Hour by hour, day by day, the new studio took shape.Sound lagging between the laminate floor, all walls insulated & sound isolated, live reflective area, plus a very dead vocal area, all this in an area measuring 7 foot x 14 foot.

THATS IT WE ARE BROKE !!! Week by week money from Moll & john's daytime jobs was filtered into equipment for the new studio, headphone plug in points were home made, using a Behringer headphone splittter amp to power the various sockets, we also installed Sony monitor speakers, plus M Audio and Wharefdale monitors, the latter being powered from a Quad valve amp.
Main cans are Sony & Behringer plus some real bargain cans from Tesco. We have recently added a 24 channel Behringer patch bay plus a Behringer Xenyx 2442 24 channel usb mixing desk which works great for live and studio. We also use a lot of Behringer 19 " rack mounted effects.
One gadget we use on vox is the Behringer tube ultragain 100 a priceless bit of kit for a warm vocal sound. Our main vox workhorse is a Behringer B1 phantom powered mike, plus, shure SM 57 / 58 a very cheap 70's Sony condensor mike, and two Behringer XM 8500 very cheap to buy but on a par with SM 57's if not better ( Honest ).
We also have a Yamaha midi keyboard and Alesis Digital Drum Kit with real heads, not to mention a few guitars lying around...Every spare bit of cash will be filtered into the new studio, we are currently looking for an 8 track Fostex A8 1/4 inch tape machine so we can return to that oh so warm analogue sound on some recordings.. Like we say Ongoing Project.
